With the support for SATA II growing up quick on the current motherboards, we sometimes wonder if it is worth getting into SATA II. Well, basically SATA II is an extension to SATA 1.0a, revision 1.1 that comes with an extended set of SATA features that provides additional performance and flexibility when using the hard disk drives in typical desktop and high-end applications. With that being said, Maxtor launched their line of Maxtor DiamondMax 10 and MaXLine III hard disk drives to take advantage of the new SATA II features. In this review, we had a chance to take a spin with Maxtor’s latest DiamondMax 10 SATA drive supporting up to 300GB with 16MB cache buffer (for 250BG and 300GB).
