Arctic Cooling Silentium T2 Case Review

Arctic Cooling, maker of the coveted VGA silencer series also make PC-cases. Where thermodynamics and air-flow are concerned their Silentium-T2has to be one of the most astute engineering designs we've seen. The case is an all steel affair sporting a slightly under powered integrated 350W PSU and is relatively small, but still may have some serious potential. Let's just see how much

Arctic Cooling Silentium T2 Case: a nightmare (Score: 0)
by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 04 2005 @ 06:43:02 CEST

I've recently bought one Silentiom T2 case. It was a nightmare to have the DVD, floopy and HDD mounted, because of the "odd" (at least for me) screw-less system, and the fact that the box came without installation instructions.
Let me put it right: for me a product is the product itself PLUS the information about it. In this case, the information was simply lacking (e.g. not a single word about the screw-less system, not a single reference to the online installation instructions, etc.). Eventually, I managed myself to find the installation instruction on the maker website...but it was too late, I had already damaged the screw-less rails when attempting to install the HDD and DVD drive.
Most importantly, despite the fact that I installed the floppy correctly, it is not firm in its position, but a bit "loose". So I am not happy with this screwless system at all. I prefer the classic system, with screws, which holds the components (HDD, DVD-Rom, CD-Rom, floppy) much more firmly in their position. To be fair, the system is somewhat silent, depending on your components.
Just a couple of words about the customer service: it was not very helpful for me. When I contacted the maker, they referred to a dealer/distributor, who in turn referred to the local dealer (where I bought the case, which did not alerted me about the lack of installation instructions). I can see here a chain of disinformation and lack of customer care.
They sent me kind letters, but they did not really solve my problem, but kept me wasting time with all those referrals.
I decided that I can live with the case in the state it is (with the damaged areas), and I am certain that the next case won't be one from this maker.
