Update: People in the U.S. will soon be able to buy this phone over at Verizon Wireless. Overall this looks like an impressive phone and it may even be a good competitor to Motorola's ROKR E1 iTunes phone. The VX 9800 looks like a normal phone but when you flip it open you get a full QWERTY keyboard and a quite big display. It also has a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with flash and an embedded MP3 player function to listen to music. It has 12MB integrated flash memory and you can add more memory with MiniSD memory cards. Another impressive feature are the integrated stereo phones, combined with a 256MB or higher capacity mini SD memory card this may make the LG VX9800 a good alternative for a digital audio player.

Just got a preproduction LG9800 Verizon unit in hand and so far, I’m likin’ it. A flip phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, this new mobile reminds me of the Motorola A630 I sported for a while, but the larger keyboard really does make a difference with messaging and the general button mashing. Though I have to admit, if I didn’t wear a purse, I wouldn’t be psyched about carrying it around in my pocket. It is a little bulky.
