Two years ago, an entry-level 42-inch plasma display panel (PDP) cost $3,000 and came with resolutions that were half that of true HDTVs. These days, however, PDPs are no longer so costly. The Maxent MX-42XM11 ($2,499 list) is a 42-inch PDP that delivers more resolution for less money. Unfortunately, we found some image-quality issues that gave us cause for concern.
