The AOL Optimized PC by Systemax ($299 direct, with 17-inch CRT monitor) is a great choice and an excellent value for the computer novice, and not just because it's an inexpensive PC. We'd recommend the AOL PC for people who know a bit about PCs and "just want to surf the Web"—with or without a broadband connection. Though it's not aimed at the übergeek, it's a compelling choice for the computer novice or people who stay after work to surf because they don't have a computer at home.
