AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 processor Review

I noted that Intel would be out the gate first with their Smithfield core, a combination of two Prescott cores linked together by a common front side bus. While Intel concentrated on the desktop segment first, AMD on the other hand made the dual-core transition with its Opteron processor in the workstation / server markets. Soon thereafter, they introduced a dual-core desktop CPU, a marketing mix much like what we saw with the Athlon 64’s introduction in 2003. My only mistake was thinking that AMD’s first dual-core CPU would be one with an FX engraving on it, denoting it part of AMD’s flagship FX line of processors..
