ATI’s Radeon Xpress 3200 is a true dual full-speed PCI Express x16 offering unlike NVIDIA’s two-chip approach. While NVIDIA added a new SPP to their existing nForce 4 MCP to achieve dual full-speed PCI-E x16 slots with one PCI-E x16 slot running off the SPP and one running off the MCP, ATI has added 16 more PCI-E lanes to the north bridge. Aside from supporting dual full-speed PCI-E x16 slots the Radeon Xpress 3200 doesn’t really have any new features when compared to the existing Radeon Xpress CrossFire (RD480). There is however changes to the manufacturing process which should theoretically yield lower power consumption and higher bus scaling. The new Radeon Xpress 3200 is built on a .11 low k fabrication process which has proven successful with ATI’s previous graphics cards..
