The lack of media buttons changes things a little. First off the 8310 is much more elegant looking than the clunky looking SP5m. Secondly the keypad is much easier to use it's larger. Otherwise the SP5m is the same phone as the 8310. If you've already read my SP5m just take a look at the picture on the next page. The 8310's strong point is its connectivity.
