    Asus P5WD2-E motherboard Review

Posted on Tuesday, April 25 2006 @ 08:13:36 CEST by LSDsmurf

NS has published a review of Asus' P5WD2-E board, the i975X based successor to the highly regarded P5WD2 we reviewed last year. This latest incarnation does not disappoint and offers a bevy of BIOS tweakability, plenty of included goodies, and excellent performance. We managed to hit a shocking 300MHz FSB with the P5WD2-E, the highest we've seen on the LGA775 platform yet!

"This is some seriously nice stuff! Our 50% increase in FSB and 31% increase in CPU clock speed netted us increases of ~25% in Doom 3, ~44% in SiSoft Sandra Memory Bandwidth, and ~21% in WinRAR. Had there been finer adjustments for the DDR2 clock, we would have probably managed to overclock the RAM a good amount, allowing the memory-hungry Pentium 4 to feed off some extra bandwidth."
