AVerTV Purity 3D MCE 250 Review

In 2004 AVerMedia produced two TV tuners that quickly fell into obscurity, they weren't really supported by much of anything, however they were interesting in that they used an NEC MPEG2 encoding chip rather then the Conexant encoder AVerMedia, Hauppauge, and others all were using in other models. The AVerMedia AverTV Purity 3D MCE 250 is a brand new product that uses NEC's latest TV chip, called the µPD61153. This time the NEC chip is a complete package, it does the analog to digital conversion, noise filtering, and hardware MPEG2 encoding all in one, just like ATI's Theater 550 Pro. Because of the similarities the AverTV Purity 3D MCE 250 just begs to be compared against the Theater 550 Pro.
