The Ricoh Caplio R5 was announced at the end of August, just 6 months after its predecessor, the R4. New features on the Ricoh R5 include a 7 megapixel sensor, a higher resolution LCD screen, all-new image processing engine with ISO 1600, an improved movie mode, longer battery life and custom scene modes. The Ricoh R5 retains the same massive 7x optical zoom lens, which is equivalent to 28-200mm on a 35mm camera. Most cameras of this size offer a 3x or at best a 4x optical zoom, but Ricoh have squeezed a 7x zoom wide-angle lens into a body that is only 26mm thick..
