Battlefield 2142 Review

All the vehicles, even the gunship’s and transports, are very easy to control with just a keyboard and mouse, and far easier to fly than the helicopters of Battlefield 2. The rate at which you gain ranks feels good, just in the first day of playing I had an unlock or two, rather than having to play game after game for days on end just to get a new kit improvement. Futuristic technologies such as EMP grenades and portable shields add a new dynamic to the gameplay, and to the teamwork. The new Titan mode does add some replay ability and originality to the game, but on many levels it feels more like an expansion pack for Battlefield 2 than a full game in itself, I’d much rather see a new engine than just a futuristic setting on the same engine from the previous game. If the price came down $5-10 in range, it would be better for the money spent.
