RCA Scenium HDLP50W151 DLP HDTV Review

To sum it up, the RCA Scenium HDLP50W151 is an excellent display device that is very attractive and reasonably priced for an integrated HDTV set. At a suggested retail price of $3,999 (probably less than $3,500 street), it offers new DLP display technology featuring integrated HDTV tuning. It's also housed in an attractive cabinet that can easily fit sit onto a base with storage, or can be placed into a wall unit. It has all of the right connections presently needed for any upscale Home Theater and then some. Since it includes 2-way 1394, the set can easily be tethered to an HD-level DVHS VCR or HD PVR (such as RCA's new DVR10) for the recording of pristine HD images. The HDLP50W151 (or its identical, but larger 61-in. sibling - HDLP61W151) is strongly recommended for repeated viewings.

Owned the RCA Scenium for 8 months before the 'Light Engine' went out. TV was picked up and taken to shop where it stayed 2 wks before we were told it could not be fixed. The parts are not available for this model!! We immediatly got on the phone with RCA. Now 3 months later, we still dont have a tv. Even with purchasing the extended warranty with the TV, we have had no luck getting RCA to stand behind their product and have it replaced. Now after researching the product, I realize that we are not the only ones who have had this problem.

WE have had ours for about a year, first the annoying buzzing noise-which we called about, not it just doesn't work. You press power and it blinks five times, then turns itself off. Bulb replaced-no good. Now it's an expensive paperweight-and RCA has been less than helpful. Don't buy RCA-it's not like the old RCA.

We bought ours about 3 years ago, still works but we've had to replace the damn bulb every year. This tv is crap!

Sorry to hear about all the problems people are having. We bought ours about 6-7 years ago. Still running fine with original bulb. Zero problems. Have a spare bulb standing by. When I first got it, only had antenna so really liked the built in HD converter. Free HD for a couple of years. Now have satellite but still use OTA occasionally. We live in Canada and the sat. co. substitutes Canadian commercials for the US ones. Used OTA to watch super bowl and the great commercials.
