ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Review

Posted on Monday, July 02 2007 @ 13:44:26 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. This card comes with 256MB of GDDR4 memory that is clocked up to an amazing 2.2GHz. This card is the fastest of ATI mid-range cards, and offers full DirectX 10 performance as well as AVIVO HD. This card is aimed toward the HTPC crowd and those that want to game without breaking the bank. Check out our review for all the details.

This really shouldn't be that hard to draw a conclusion with this card, but I'm having a hard time giving it a rave review. This is the first ATi card we've handled in a while, and while it does add DX10 support to it's list of features, the truth is that it's just plain slow in DX10 benchmarks. While the card has an impressive number of shader units (120), it is crippled by 128-bit memory.
