Seasonic S12 II 500W PSU Review

Posted on Friday, September 14 2007 @ 19:00:01 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Another feature which Seasonic touts is that the PSU features the 80 plus efficiency rating also highly coveted by PSU manufacturers which Seasonic also states they surpass at 20%, 50%, and 100% load with a true power factor of .99. It features dual 12V rails with a double forward converter circuit design and high-grade conductive solid polymer aluminum capacitors for better performance and reliability. Furthermore Seasonic states the new S12II boasts staggered T-shaped aluminum heat sinks to dissipate heat better and what they call a super low noise fan which comes in at 12cm. During testing it certainly was almost impossible to hear the fan running on the power supply unit and additionally it produced little to no heat even during strenuous runs of 3DMark 2006 SE with AMD's new Athlon X2 6400+.
