Asus GeForce 9600 GT Top Review

Posted on Tuesday, May 13 2008 @ 20:08:09 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

What's unique about the Asus GeForce 9600 GT Top is the large what Asus are dubbing "Glaciator" heatsink. This sits in the middle of the card and features a much larger fan than standard 9600 GTs which actually keeps it very quiet as well. This allows Asus to give overclock the card out of the box to 720MHz for the core and 1GHz for the memory. What we've seen from benchmarking so far is that clock speed seems to matter more than the number of stream processors as the 9600 GT is very competitive with the 8800 GT despite quite a few less stream processors so this is a good development for the 9600 GT.
