Patriot PC3-16000 Viper Series 4GB kit Review

Posted on Tuesday, October 21 2008 @ 15:54:23 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Rated at 2000MHz with timings of 9-9-9-24, this memory kit is slightly slower than our previous top end kit, the CSX Diablo3. However, with the advent of 64-bit computing and the inability for 32-bit systems to address more than 3GB, 4GB kits are now the norm for high-end systems. As such, enthusiasts are looking for 2x2GB kits, but up until now, high performance DDR3 was only available in 2x1GB format. Patriot have once again come to the forefront of memory releases in being one of the first to release 2x2GB kits rated at 2000MHz. DDR3 however, is still relatively expensive compared to DDR2 that is still lingering around like a bad smell. Nobody said high-end computing was going to be cheap and if you want the best, more often than not you have to pay the price.
