    Patriot Viper PC3-12800 6GB Tri-Channel Memory Review

Posted on Sunday, January 11 2009 @ 10:47:56 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

However, when the Patriot Viper PC3-12800 6GB Triple Channel Memory is pushed to its full potential, there's a huge amount of memory bandwidth available which the I7 can use with things like audio and video formatting. It's actually quite surprising to see just how fast the kit is in both dual and triple channel mode. To give you a good idea, formatting an 8GB video file came close to matching the Skull Trail's performance which I had on demo at PDXLAN. The difference here is that the Skull Trail is two physical Core 2 Quad Extreme 1600 MHz FSB processors versus a single Extreme 965 with Hyperthread making virtually 8 cores.
