Link Gigabit and Wireless Network Review

Posted on Wednesday, October 20 2004 @ 20:08:08 CEST by LSDsmurf

This is the brains of the network. It offers all of the connectivity from WAN to LAN after the modem. For some, the router is the one and only piece you will need for a home network. It will allow you to share your network connection and provide a little security by using NAT, Network Address Translation. NAT is a network standard that allows a Local Area Network (LAN) to use one set of IP addresses for internal traffic while allowing a second set of IPs or IP to be used as the external or Public IP. The router interprets or translates the IPs to allow the internal IPs access to the internet.
