Edifier Luna 2 Desktop Speakers Review

There’s no denying that the Luna 2s are a beautifully designed 2.0 audio system and that the minimalist design would look perfect on a modern desk next to an aluminium-encased laptop such as a MacBook Pro. On the downside, I didn’t feel that the performance was remarkable enough to warrant the high price. Sure the Class-D amplifier-based speakers are loud (30W RMS) and clear, but I thought they lacked warmth and punch - especially compare to my beloved Axiom Audiobytes (http://itreviewed.net/index.php/axiom-audiobyte/). The speakers also had sporadic bouts of ‘popping’ as I switched between desktop applications and browsed the Web. At this price level, this just isn’t acceptable. Design enthusiasts will fall in love with the high-quality finish, touch-sensitive controls and funky lighting, but audio and technical buffs will ultimately be left wanting more - especially those who, like me, crave thumping bass levels.
