ATI Radeon Xpress 200 chipset Review

Posted on Monday, November 08 2004 @ 18:42:01 CET by LSDsmurf

As the Christmas buying season heats up a number of PCI Express chipsets for Athlon 64 are vying for a piece of the upgrade pie. So far we have gotten our hands on the VIA K8T890 solution, and today we are happy to add nForce 4 and Radeon Xpress 200 numbers as ATI releases their new chipset. It has been a couple of years since we had the first ATI IGP 320M chipset review. Back then the lack of a ATI Southbridge and high latency with the memory controller kept the chipset confined to mobile applications. With the memory controller no longer a barrier to Athlon 64 chipset performance means half the problem has been solved. Also this time around ATI brings a discrete and integrated video chipset to the table. And the video is no joke with full DirectX 9 support.
