Western Digital 320 GB Scorpio Black Notebook Hard Disk Drive Review

Posted on Monday, October 26 2009 @ 18:23:15 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

If you were impressed with the performance of the 5400 RPM Western Digital Scorpio, you will be astounded by the "higher-end" Western Digital Scorpio Black. Running with a higher spindle speed of 7,200 RPM and boasting twice the cache of a Scorpio, the Scorpio Black represents the epitome of Western Digital mobile hard disk drive technology.

We had the opportunity to give their top-of-the-line 320 GB Scorpio Black for a test drive and we were most impressed with its performance. Not only did it deliver a large storage capacity, it also delivered excellent results in our benchmarks. In fact, it had the same platter-to-buffer transfer rates as the 500 GB Western Digital Caviar GP desktop hard disk drive!
