Seagate 2TB Barracuda XT Hard Drive Review

Posted on Wednesday, November 25 2009 @ 20:18:04 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

The Seagate Barracuda XT 2TB HDD is the fastest regular drive, but doesn’t have much performance improvement over the 3 Gb/second ports on the ASUS motherboards due to the regular hard disk not really saturating the SATA 2 bus. The cost of this drive is $299 meaning it is about $100 more than the regular 2TB drive. Seagate is the first hard drive manufacturer on the market to support the new SATA 6 Gb/second standard and other manufacturers will follow suit in 2010. For the hardcore enthusiast doing a lot of video editing or playing games this drive and the associated SATA 6 Gb/second supporting motherboard is a no-brainer.
