Microsoft's Media Center Edition operating system was launched a few years ago without a lot of fanfare. MS had long dominated the personal computer operating system market and looked to capatalize on the growing home theater pc (HTPC) market. The converging of the PC and your home theater A/V rack has been a long ongoing challenge. Many of us have dreamed of our computer powering our home theaters with terabytes of material that could be played with a push of a button and then wirelessly streamed to anywhere in the house. However that dream has been met with challenges of poor software. The hardware in recent years has been more than sufficient to power our HTPCs but even MS would admit that it's even taken them a few times to get it right.
