I remember when Mercedes introduced their M-class to the world when The Lost World: Jurassic Park came out back in 1997, what an incredible jungle survival machine it looked. Since then there’s always been something about the SUV that just felt awesome; probably the image from Spielberg’s film that clouded my nostalgic mind.

In the concrete jungle of Dubai, however, the M-class of old seems out of place, which is why the new M-class feels ‘at home’ because of its sharp looks and powerful engine. Even so, our review unit was not the top of the line ML500, but the monstrosity from AMG, the ML63.
