The X800XL debut from ATI actually caused quite a commotion due to its cost being 1/3 of the 850PE flagship card. What you get in a X800XL is a flagship GPU with slower clocks, yet unlike the X800 Pro series you still retain the 16 pipes which allow the card to maintain some outstanding performance in quality mode with anti-aliasing and anistropic filtering enabled.
