This release is the first to be developed by multiple developers in an open source environment. Also, this release marks a new standard numbering system. The first ocet is used for the major version number, the second is for the minor version number. If populated, the third ocet marks the beta revision, and the fourth is the alpha revision (Major.Minor.Beta.Alpha). Therefore, 2.0.2.5 would be an alpha release 5 of beta 2.0.2. So, if you are wondering why this release is going much quicker (with less changes), and version numbers are much different, this is the reason.
