PRTG Network Monitor is the powerful network monitoring solution from Paessler AG. It ensures the availability of network components while also measuring traffic and usage. It saves costs by avoiding outages, optimizing connections, saving time and controlling service level agreements (SLAs).
- Overview: Version 7.2.2 offers various performance improvements and
bugfixes
- Performance and memory usage improvements
- Improved processing of monitoring results: core server process uses
substantially less CPU cycles (70-90% less)
- Improved Windows GUI: quicker synchronization with core server
- Improved web server: lower memory usage for session management
- Faster data cache recalculation: now up to 10 times faster (such
recalcs are only necessary when PRTG's database format changes, e.g.
with new software versions)
- PDF generator for reports now runs in an external process (faster,
more reliable, better memory usage)
- New: Reporting, "Historic Data" function and the API are now protected
against potentially long running and blocking requests
- New: Japanese installation of the interface (requires Japanese Windows
version)
- New: Autodiscovery assigns device icons that match the discovered device
type (e.g. mail server, web server, etc.)
- Changed: Improved WMI connection management
- Changed: In order to work around certain bugs in the WMI system PRTG now
tries alternate WMI queries for memory and cpu load sensors if the standard
queries fail
- Changed: Improved device template "Linux Machine"
- Changed: Amazon CloudWatch sensor now supports monitoring of instances
running in the "EU Region"
- Changed: Improved printing for PRTG's web pages on Firefox
- Changed: Dropped support for notifications with Yahoo Messenger
- Changed: syslog and SNMP Trap sensor have been limited to a maximum of
100 messages per second
- Changed: Number of allowed probes now depends on the license (in V7.2.1
all licenses except Site License were limited to 4 probes):
