Walt Disney says it will start a two-month trial in May, allowing viewers to download shows like LOST and Desperate Housewives for free on the day after they are first broadcast.

The entire current season of Alias and Commander in Chief will also be available. The shows will feature a new technology which will be aimed at preventing viewers from fast-forwarding through commercials.

One of the goals of Disney is to generate more revenue by enabling consumers in foreign countries to view a free advertising supported version instead of viewing illegal TV rips downloaded from the Internet.
