AMD vs Intel price war to boost PC demand

Taiwanese chipset and motherboard makers believe the upcoming price war between AMD and Intel will boost demand in the PC market:
With Intel and AMD set to slash their prices, Foxconn said its motherboard shipments will increase significantly in the second half of this year. But Foxconn stressed that unlike competitors who offer both Intel and AMD motherboards, it will continue focusing on motherboards for the Intel platform.

Asustek Computer expects the Intel-AMD rivalry will drive up its motherboard shipments in the second half of the year, bringing the company's total motherboard shipments to 60 million units in 2006.
