NVIDIA announced that ASUS has selected the new NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 graphics processing unit to create the graphically powerful, thin-and-light A8Js notebook. The new GeForce GPU delivers 50% more pixel bandwidth than the NVIDIA GPU used previously in the ASUS A8 seriesi, ushering in new levels of graphics performance and video quality for small compact notebooks such as the new ASUS A8Js.

Fully utilizing the visual processing capabilities of the new GeForce GPU with 512MB memory and NVIDIA PureVideo technology, the new notebook delivers immersive, realistic 3D graphics for games and smooth, high-quality playback of DVD movies and HD video. In addition, the new notebook features a gorgeous 14-inch Color Shine glare-type widescreen display, a built-in webcam, full wired and wireless connectivity, including Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, and Wi-Fi technologies, and a powerful multimedia system configuration based on the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

The first notebook GPUs manufactured using 80-nanometer process technology, the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 GPU features advanced technologies that deliver cutting-edge 3D, high-definition (HD) video and advanced power management to the notebooks, enhancing the mobile computing experience. Features include:
  • Support for the latest games and applications with DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 and film quality high dynamic range (HDR) lighting, enabling more realistic, real-time gaming.
  • H.264 hardware accelerated support through NVIDIA PureVideo technology—the combination of HD video processors and software delivers a HD home-theater quality video experience to the PC.
  • NVIDIA PowerMizer technology, with advanced power management features that enable dramatic performance enhancements in the same power budget as the previous generation of NVIDIA mobile GPUs. The reduced power consumption and less heat generation result in cooler and smaller notebooks with increased battery life.
  • A high-performance 3D architecture built for Microsoft Windows Vista— the industry's first operating system to require a dedicated GPU to realize its full potential.
