We take a look at some of the most bizarre and inventive specialist game controllers to hit the market. Maracas? Check. Guitars? OneTwo. Fishing rods? Reel 'em in. Mech cockpits? Roger that. Who thinks up this stuff?

Sega Bass Fishing had a cheesy rock soundtrack and a guy who yelled ‘FISH!!!” at the beginning of each round. It was, to put it bluntly, not a game concerned with realism, and yet Sega, displaying all the acumen and business savvy that was to send the Dreamcast to an early grave, saw fit to make a realistic fishing rod controller.
