The folks at Toshiba's Storage Device Division have come up with a new HD DVD burner intended for mobile systems. Dubbed the SD-L902A, the drive has a standard slim-line height of 0.5", and Toshiba claims it is the world's first HD DVD burner that can squeeze into notebooks.More info over here.
The drive burns both single- and dual-layer HD DVD discs at a 1x speed (36.55Mbit/s), which works out to a theoretical 55-minute burn time for a 15GB single-layer disc. Toshiba's SD-L902A also burns regular DVDs at speeds between 2x and 4x depending on the format and number of layers, as well as CD-Rs at 16x, CD-RWs at up to 10x, and DVD-RAMs at 3x.
