Microsoft promises DirectX 10 speeds up things by as much as 4 times

Microsoft told developers DirectX 10 will accelerate some operations by as much as four times, but The Inquirer says the biggest problem with this statement is that it doesn't really reflect on the main benchmark that people use to measure performance: frames per seconds:
While DirectX 10's rendering mode and programming can speed up the same code as it finally solves the CPU overhead problem it won’t mean it will speed up your final scores by four times.

We would hold our breath for some significant performance increase in real games as we are getting ready for some testing.
