PS3 with Blu-ray was a mistake

Analysts say adding Blu-ray to the PlayStation 3 was a mistake. Firstly because a shortage of Blu-ray players delayed the PS3 and resulted in low quantity shipments, but also because it adds $150 to $200 to the price while consumers don't really want it.
Blu-Ray however is adding $150 to $200 to the product and punters do not really want it.

Goodman said that Sony had created something that is not for today's market. Blu-Ray was not a market driver on a console and it is only driving the price higher.
