The Inq had a chat with one of ATI's executive and heard AMD is planning to stay in the desktop graphics business.

Rick Bergman says the rumour that AMD may stop developing high-end desktop chips after the ATI R700 isn't true. He says there are plans for at least three more years of desktop GPUs, including the high-end R700, R800 and R900.

This doesn't mean that AMD will quit the desktop GPU market after that, it's just that in this industry it's kinda hard to plan anything for any longer than that.

Bergman says the integration of ATI into AMD is going well. The new company is shaping up and is ready to rock and roll in this new year.
