Everything is not that simple with the RADEON 9800 SE. As we reported last week, there are two versions of the RADEON 9800 SE: one with simplified PCB design and 128-bit memory, offering speeds comparable to that of the RADEON 9600-series, another is more powerful using 256-bit memory bus, but a slightly modified R350 core with only 4 rendering pipelines. Such more expensive solution will function at 325/600MHz for graphics processor/DDR SDRAM and will probably become an interesting option for enthusiasts. The only concern is that its price will be about $200 - $249, a bit more than a typical hardware enthusiast in budget can afford for a graphics card that needs a modification to perform on $299 or $399 level. |
