130 million HDMI devices to be shipped this year

In-Stat expects more than 130 million HDMI devices will be shipped this year:
HDMI Licensing, the agent responsible for licensing the HDMI specification, has also announced that more than 500 manufacturers have adopted the standard, a 60% increase since the International CES in January 2006.

While HDMI is a standard connector for high-definition consumer electronics devices, including TVs, set-top boxes (STBs), DVD players and A/V receivers, it is enjoying rapid growth in the game console, PC and mobile markets, as manufacturers continue to meet consumer demand for multimedia convergence, the agent said.
