GeForce 8600 GTS gaming performance

VR Zone got their hands on a GeForce 8600 GTS graphics cards and benchmarked it in three games. They compare the card to the old GeForce 7900 GT.

These tests were done on a Windows XP test system with a Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 overclocked to 2.4GHz, 2x 1GB GSkill F2-8000PHU2-2GBHZ 800MHz memory running at CL4-4-4-12 timings on the ASUS P5N-E SLI 650i SLI motherboard.

Here are the results:

GeForce 8600 GTS (745/1145): 46FPS
GeForce 7900 GT (450/660): 47FPS

Company of Heroes - 1600 x 1200:
GeForce 8600 GTS (745/1145): 35FPS
GeForce 7900 GT (450/660): 34FPS

Company of Heroes - 2560 x 1600:
GeForce 8600 GTS (745/1145): 16FPS
GeForce 7900 GT (450/660): 16FPS


BattleField 2142 - 1280 x 960:
GeForce 8600 GTS (745/1145): 73FPS
GeForce 7900 GT (450/660): 68FPS

BattleField 2142 - 1600 x 1200:
GeForce 8600 GTS (745/1145): 52FPS
GeForce 7900 GT (450/660): 48FPS

BattleField 2142 - 2048 x 1536:

NeverWinter Nights 2 - 1280 x 1024:
