The next major price drop for Intel Pentium 4 CPUs will come on October the 26th, and later in February next year. The Inquirer reports the new prices and they have also gathered the prices of Intel his upcoming Prescott CPUs.

Frequencies of the desktop chips are broadly in line with the August roadmap details we published, but on the 5th of November Intel will introduce a 2.8GHz desktop Celeron processor at $117, while the 2.7GHz will be released on the 24th of September next. Price cuts for Celerons come on the 26th of October, with a 2.4GHz chip costing $70, and a 2.5GHz Celeron $80. The 2.7GHz Celeron will be introduced at $102.

The Prescott includes Hyperthreading, 800MHz front side buses, PNI (Prescott New Instructions), 90 nanometer technology, and 1MB cache. The table shows how the Northwood will be displaced over the next nine to 10 months.
