DigiTimes reported this week that Asus is planning to deliver four new cheap own-brand laptops in July. These units will be priced between $249 and $549.
Unit sales of the low-cost notebooks, based on Intel's Classmate PC platform, are expected to total several hundred thousand to one million units in 2007 and top about 10 million in 2008, estimated Shen, who also noted that Asustek is likely to account for a 30-50% share of global sales of Intel-based low-cost notebooks projected for 2008.
