VIA today officially announced the EPIA TC Mini-ITX motherboard. This motherboard is only 17cm x 17cm big and even has a built-in 12V DC-DC power converter, eliminating the need of a big PSU. The integrated power converter can provide up to 60W.
In fact there are two versions : the EPIA TC6000 with an integrated 600MHz VIA Eden ESP6000 CPU and the EPIA TC10000 with an integrated 1GHz VIA C3 processor. Both processors can be cooled fanless.
A horizontal SODIMM slot on the underside of the mainboard and the optional CardBus (PCMCIA) and CompactFlash slots help to achieve the VIA EPIA TC's unique low profile design by providing expandability without using the vertical PCI slot.

A wide range of storage options is supported, including DOM support, two IDE ports allowing for hard drive and DVD-ROM connections, and an optional CompactFlash slot. This makes the VIA EPIA TC configurable for a diverse range of embedded or client designs, including those with no moving parts, backup storage through a local hard drive, connectivity to an array of modern-day peripheral devices, or wireless connectivity through an optional CardBus Type II (PCMCIA) slot.

The VIA EPIA TC comes with the VIA CLE266 chipset featuring integrated VIA UniChrome™ 2D/3D graphics and an embedded MPEG-2 decoder that provides flawless DVD playback. Other features on the board include support for DDR266 RAM, USB2.0 and onboard LAN.

The VIA EPIA TC of Mini-ITX mainboard features the VIA CLE266 chipset with an embedded hardware MPEG-2 decoder and integrated VIA UniChrome 2D/3D graphics core for enhanced digital media performance. Performance is further boosted with support for the higher memory bandwidth DDR266 SDRAM and the high data transfer speeds of ATA-133.

The VIA EPIA TC Mini-ITX mainboard has an onboard 12V DC to DC power converter that provides 60W of power to unique space saving designs. An optional CardBus type II provides extra expandability for a wide range of peripheral devices and networking capabilities. In addition, optional support for a CompactFlash slot and DOM provides numerous storage and memory configurations, including instant boot up of embedded operating systems. The VIA EPIA TC also offers direct support for a number of LVDS embedded LCD panels, has a PCI slot for additional expandability, and is compatible with a full range of Mini-ITX chassis as well as FlexATX and MicroATX enclosures.
