The shareholders of Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) today approved the spin-off of the company’s eight-inch fab. After the company’s board of directors decides on the spin-off date, the fab will operate as an independent company, but SiS will retain 100% ownership. The chip designer suffered losses in 2000, 2001 and 2002 largely due to its money-losing fab operation, which entered mass production in the second quarter of 2000.
