LG announced the availability of new LCD displays with a 5000:1 contrast ratio:
The existing monitor line-up with DFC 5000:1 technology, which is equipped with LG’s unique ‘f-ENGINE’ technology, uses the world’s first LCD picture-enhancing chip to provide astounding color backed by enhanced contrast and image quality. These monitors offer users clearer, brighter and crisp images.

DFC 5000:1 technology dynamically controls brightness as the onscreen image changes, ensuring that it is always at the optimal level. This means that LG’s monitors will offer the same movie, sports or TV watching experience as many high-end televisions. This is accomplished by analyzing the source signal and automatically adjusting the monitor’s settings.

The technology also delivers incredible black levels and excellent color differentiation in dark scenes. This enhances the overall image quality, while reducing eye strain.

"LG continues to show leadership in digital displays with this announcement of the industry’s highest contrast ratio of 5000:1 for LCD monitors. The integration of cutting-edge technology with lifestyle trends and needs is what LG is doing to be the global leader in digital displays," said Howard Lee, Managing Director for LG Electronics Singapore.
These displays should be on retail shelves from August 30, 2007 at all big consumer electronics stores.
