Intel has presented a new Xeon MP processor at 3.0GHz with 4MB L3 cache memory. Intel claims that this new Xeon performs up to 25 percent better than previous versions.
The new Intel processor features a 3.0 GHz clock speed and 4 MB level three (L3) cache. The Intel Xeon processor MP has a strong established base of enterprise customers, including AIG SunAmerica, Inc., Coremetrics, Inc., MAXDATA, Mohawk Industries, Inc., Partners HealthCare System, Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, UFJ Bank Limited and The Weather Channel. In addition to this broad range of customers, the price and performance of Intel Xeon processor MP systems has been particularly attractive to the financial sector.

System manufacturers, including Unisys, which builds the systems used by Thomson Financial, are expected to offer more than 50 Intel Xeon processor MP-based systems, ranging from four to 32 processors, this year. Other leading manufacturers with systems based on the Intel Xeon processor MP include Bull, Dell, Egenera, Fujitsu, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Gateway, HP, Hitachi, IBM, Kraftway, Langchao, Lenovo, NEC, Powerleader, Samsung and Toshiba, as well as regional system builders.
The Intel Xeon processor MP at 3.0 GHz featuring a 4 MB L3 cache is now available worldwide for Intel's list price of $3,692 in 1,000-unit quantities. Intel is also releasing the Intel Xeon processor MP at 2.70 GHz and 2.20 GHz with 2 MB L3 cache at $1,980 and $1,177 in 1,000-unit quantities respectively.
