AMD SB750 has secret overclocking weapon?

Posted on Monday, April 21 2008 @ 21:46:55 CEST by

It sounds quite odd but according to rumour mill FUD Zilla, AMD has packed a secret overclocking feature in its upcoming SB780 southbridge:
However, it turns out it wasn't in the way we thought, at least not if our source is correct, as it turns out the the secret here has something to do with this new southbridge being able to unlock some extra overclocking potential in AMD's CPUs.

From what we've been told, AMD demoed a board with the SB750 which struggled to overlock the CPU to 3GHz, but once the overclocking feature was enabled the same CPU had no problem reaching 3.2GHz. We can't reveal exactly how this feature was enabled, as our source asked us not to, but it looks like AMD has a secret weapon when it comes to overclocking its CPU's here.
