Chipset maker ALi has started mass production of its M1689 single-chip solution for the AMD K8 processor lineup, which includes the AMD Opteron, Athlon 64 and the Mobile Athlon 64.

Some first-tier Taiwanese motherboard makers have completed their design-in processes for the M1689, allowing the company to start volume shipments in late August.
ALi also recently began volume production of its M9205 audio/video single-chip controllers for TV Boxes. In addition, the company will begin producing the M9207 next-generation AV single-chip solution by the end of the third quarter, the sources added.
