Palm Treo Pro Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone unveiled

The Palm Treo Pro smartphone was announced today. This new Treo phone features the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system and has WiFi and GPS capabilities. The phone has a touchscreen with 320 x 320 pixel resolution and a full QWERTY keyboard.

The Treo Pro has a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM7201 processor, HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM support, 802.11b/g WiFi, built-in GPS, Bluetooth, 256MB memory (100MB user available), 128MB RAM, 2 megapixel digicam, removable 1500mAh li-ion battery (5 hours talk time, 250 hours standby), micro SD memory card support, microUSB 2.0 for synchronization and charging, 3.5mm stereo jack, ...

  • One-touch Wi-Fi button -- Easy, fast Wi-Fi connection experience (802.11b/g).
  • Today screen enhancements -- Web search directly from the Today screen.
  • Ringer switch -- Silences the device immediately.
  • Screen saver -- Lets users know at a glance -- without turning on the device -- what time it is and whether they've missed a call or have a new SMS/MMS message.
  • New voicemail indicator -- The center button flashes to let users know that a voicemail is waiting.
  • Dedicated email and calendar buttons -- Fast one-button access.
  • The phone measures 4.49" x 2.26" x 0.53" (L x W x D) and weighs 4.69 oz. Full specifications at Palm. The phone will be sold unlocked for 399EUR in Europe and $549 in the US but subsidized versions will also be available.
