AMD shows off fourway dual core CPU server

CHIP FIRM AMD said it is demonstrating a fourway Opteron server using dual processor cores. 90 nanometre technology and silicon on insulator (SOI) technology. The four way system is built into an HP ProLiant DL585 and AMD is flashing the tin at its HQ in Austin, Texas.

Production machines using AMD's dual core processors are not expected until 2005 when the firm will also introduce desktop versions of the technology.
