Foundry Co., the new joint-venture that will takeover AMD's fabs, is planning to build a 22nm fab in New York. FUD Zilla
claims the fab should go online by 2012:
We managed to score some additional details about Foundry Co. and the plans for the future. The new fab, now owned by Foundry Co. in New York State should be operative by 2012 and this fab will be capable of manufacturing 22nm wafers.
Intel promised 22nm processors at the same year so this sounds about right. We are not sure if AMD has any plans to redo a part of the Dresden FABs and make them capable of producing 32nm CPUs as this is the shrink that comes after the 45nm. Dresden should be ready for 45nm CPUs just about now.
